a shout out!

I just wanted to give a shout out to my amazing voice teacher, the lovely Lisa Olsen!
The other day I realized it has been 3 years this month since I started taking voice lessons with her. I can't believe it has been that long! Time flies when you're having fun!!

Singing has always been my favorite thing to do. From elementary school through high school, I was always involved in some sort of choir. Once college hit, I began missing it so much! Car singing and the occasional solo in church just wasn't cutting it for me.

A few years ago I decided to do something about it-and you know what they say, if you don't use it, you LOSE it! I started looking for a voice teacher, and thanks to my wonderful friend and neighbor, Kenneth Cope, I was introduced to Lisa. She had been his assistant several years ago and had recently emailed him to say that she was going to start teaching voice lessons. It was meant to be!

We instantly became good friends and my 1/2 hour lessons would usually turn into hour lessons because we would chat so much! Lisa has taught me so much and has given me so much confidence in my voice. She is one of my closest friends and is the older sister I never had! I am so grateful for her friendship and I am so happy she is part of my life. Lisa has such an amazing voice and seriously needs to record an album. I hope someday I can sing as well as she does!

Anyway, I just wanted to let Lisa know how awesome she is and how much I love her!

I'm so in love....

with these shoes!!!

I saw these at Nordstrom a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love!! They have my name written all over them! It is a DANG good thing these weren't out before the wedding or else I would've been in the hole nearly $300! (I did love my wedding shoes though and I got them for only $13 at Nordstrom Rack) I love love LOVE these Badgley Mischkas!! If I were Carrie Underwood, I would totally rock these on the red carpet at the Grammy's tomorrow. And if I had an extra $300 lying around, they would be mine! I don't know where I would wear them, but I would come up with something!! :)

Just thought I would throw that out there.... haha

Go Jazz Go!!

My company has 2 season tickets for the Jazz. On Saturday, I was lucky enough to score the tickets for the game. They are awesome seats! 10th row behind the bench! Perfect view of my boyfriend, Kyle. (Don't worry, Josh knows about me and Kyle) :)

Josh and I were so excited to have the opportunity to go to a game-especially with such great seats! We are both HUGE Jazz fans, and I love that we were able to do something fun together that we both enjoy and are passionate about. I must say, the Jazz had a rough start to this season, but they seemed to have stepped up their game lately! (Knock on wood) The game against the Spurs last night was AMAZING!!! So proud of our Jazz!!

And I must mention my new favorite player....SUNDIATA GAINES!!!
(Please let the Jazz sign him!)

We were way bummed that he didn't get more playing time at the game on Saturday. During the 4th quarter, several people in the crowd started chanting his name and when he was finally put in during the last minute, he got a standing "O!" He got the biggest grin on his face. I heart him.

What I would have given to be at the game against the Cavaliers last Thursday. Josh and I were watching the game with some friends, and the Jazz were down by about 5 points, with only 40 seconds or so left in the game, so we figured it was a lost cause and decided to head home. BIG MISTAKE!! What a victory!! All thanks to Mr. Gaines and his game winning shot! The next morning I watched the clip of his shot over and over again. What an exciting moment for him. It reminded me of another similar moment in Jazz history.....The game that John Stockton sent the Utah Jazz to the NBA finals!! I'll never forget watching that game with my dad and both of us jumping up with excitement and high fiving each other. Oh that was awesome. John Stockton is still my favorite Jazz player of all time! I love that they are selling his jerseys again! I REALLY want one for my birthday(hint hint, honey!)

I sure love spending time with this cute boy.

January = BLAH!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but January is BY FAR my least favorite month of the year. The only word to describe the month is "BLAH." I LOATHE everything about January.(Loathing! Unadulterated Loathing!) The holidays have just ended, it's freezing cold everyday and the air is absolutely disgusting!! My allergies are not handling this smog very well at all. I don't really care for the snow-especially if I have to drive in it, but I would really appreciate a good snow storm right about now so that I can breathe properly again!! Or I wouldn't mind heading to this place....

I have decided that someday we are going to go somewhere warm during the month of January. Maybe next year?? I need to have something to look forward to in this "blah" of a month. I feel like I am on the verge of getting seasonal depression, and a warm vacation would be the perfect cure for that. What I would give to feel some warm sunshine on my skin right now. Or I need to plan it just right so that one of our kids is born in January. That will make the month a little more exciting for me. :)

But until then, I will be dreaming of my favorite place on Earth.....

And continue to hope that our goal of living in St. George someday will actually happen!! Winter is not our friend!

I'll be a SUNBEAM for Him!!

Josh and I just got a church calling....

If you haven't guessed it by now, we are the new Sunbeam teachers in our ward!! We have taught our first two lessons, and I absolutely love it! We have 8 of the cutest 3 and 4 year-olds around. Seriously, they are all adorable! And for the most part, they are all good natured children, which is a huge help considering there are 8 of them. There is this one little blonde girl that I want to take home with me. She is pretty much the epitome of what I want our future daughter to look like-blonde hair, big blue eyes and an adorable little face. I would pretty much keep any of the kids in the class though. Josh wasn't too sure if he would enjoy this calling, but he loves it! (Babe-don't kill me for stating the truth!) :)

I thought this calling would be good birth control for me, but it is having quite the opposite affect. I love noticing how much these young kids love and adore their parents. They talk about them during the lesson and their little faces light up when their parents come to get them after class. Last Sunday we had one little straggler who's parents hadn't come and gotten him yet. We started walking down the hall with him and found his dad, and as soon as his dad picked him up, he exclaimed, "I love you, Daddy!" There is nothing cuter than hearing those words. I can't wait for the day that our kids say those 3 words to us. It will be heaven.

Nothin like a good neighbor!

I'm sad. Our good friends and neighbors will be moving out of our apartment complex at the end of the month. I have known both Tiare and James since high school and Tiare is one of my dearest friends. It has been so fun living above them the past 5 months. We have had many meals together and watched several episodes of The Office and Prison Break together. They aren't moving far, but there's just nothing like having good friends that are also good neighbors.

So this is where you come in. Josh and I aren't looking to "replace" James and Tiare, because like I said, they aren't moving far and they are our good friends. BUT-we would like to find a nice couple to move into their apartment.

I must say, our apartment complex is AWESOME!! Josh and I looked at SO many places and this was by far the best deal for our money. It has 2 bedrooms(with big closets in both), 1 1/2 bathrooms, a decent sized kitchen (for an apartment), a dishwasher, a HUGE laundry room with lots of extra storage space, central air, covered parking for EVERYONE and it is only $675 a month!! You only have to sign a 6 month lease, and after that, you just pay month to month and your rent stays at $675. That is almost unheard of in the apartment world. It is also in a great location: approximately 4500 South and Highland Drive. The apartment complex is also part of an amazing ward! The management is awesome and we love where we live.

So, are you sold yet? :)

If you or anyone you know is looking for a place, let me know and I will give you the apartment manager's number!! I promise you it is a great place to live!
