So VERY Grateful!!

It finally happened! I got a job!! AH! I still can't believe it and it all happened so fast. I have been looking for a full-time job for 9 months now and have looked and applied even more since getting engaged and married. Call me crazy, but having insurance is pretty dang important! :) Josh and I have probably applied for 10 jobs or more a week since we got married, but hadn't had a single bite. But all thanks to Facebook, I have a new, full-time job!

It all started Tuesday of last week-the day after Labor day. After getting home from another day at The Garden, I put my Facebook status as, "Allison needs a new job ASAP." Within minutes, Ryan Ladle, a friend from junior high and high school(which by the way, I haven't seen or talked to him in years) sent me a message saying the company he works for was hiring a full-time receptionist/office assistant and asked if that would be something I would be interested in applying for. I immediately responded that I was and I was ready to take anything at this point. So I emailed him my resume and he said he would pass it along and put in a good word.

First thing the next morning, Wednesday, I got a phone call to schedule an interview for the next morning. I went to the interview more excited than nervous because I FINALLY had an actual interview after all this time. The interview went extremely well and I had a good feeling about it. The man who interviewed me said they had received over 140 resumes for this position and then had narrowed it down to around 20 for interviews and they would then narrow it down to 3 or 4 for second interviews. The weekend rolls around and I was getting worried because I hadn't heard from the company yet. But sure enough, first thing Monday morning I get a call to have an interview the next morning. This time my interview was with two other owners of the company. I felt really good about that interview as well, but then knowing it was down to me and 3 other people was making me nervous. They told me I would know by Thursday afternoon if I was chosen for the position and that I should give them a call if I hadn't heard from them by late Thursday afternoon.

Josh and I were both off on Thursday, so we got to spend the whole day together running errands. Every time my phone would ring, my heart would start pounding, but it was never a call about the job. Finally around 4, I decided to give them a call and am told that they had it down to 2 people and that I would know by Friday(yesterday). They didn't specify if I was one of those 2 people, so I wasn't sure what to think.

I also didn't have to work yesterday, so I had a voice lesson and then ran some errands. Around 2 in the afternoon, while shopping in Target, my phone rings and I knew by looking at the number that it was them. I answer and I am super nervous and a little excited. After some small talk, he offered me the position! I was floored! I really didn't think I was going to get the job. I gladly accepted and after we hung up, I began calling Josh, my parents, etc. At that point I couldn't even remember what I was going to buy at Target.

So, I start as a receptionist for Mazuma Capital this Monday!! I am so excited to have a full-time job and am grateful that I will have a solid income. As a server, you never know what you're going to make. Our biggest source of income is Josh's yardcare, but that will end as soon as it starts snowing, so I am grateful that my new job will be able to keep us financially stable. The pay isn't fantastic, but it is decent enough and they have told me that there will be opportunities for advancement with the company. I will also be able to work Saturday nights at The Garden for extra money, which will be nice.

I am so excited and so grateful for this new opportunity. You never know how Facebook can help you out! :)
